Once there lived a woman of great wisdom and age.

She was skilled seamstress. But in her old age, the

woman set aside her needle and thread. She left her

fine cloth untouched.

One day FatherKraus knocked on her door, and she

welcomed him in.

After a while he said: "You know, we need a new altar

cloth to celebrate Easter. The old one is tattered and

shabby. Could you make us one?"

The old woman was shy and unsure. It had been so

long since she'd sewed anything of beauty.

FatherKraus could see her hesitation, so he gently

encouraged her. Eventually she agreed.

Weeks passed. Easter was fast approaching.

Finally, the old seamstress went to the church with

the altar cloth folded and draped over her arm.

FatherKraus welcomed her with great joy and curiosity.

He helped her spread the cloth out on the altar.

Then he stood back. The new altar cloth was splendid in

the morning light that filtered down through the rose window.

The old woman could scarcely believe her failing eyes.

"It is more beautiful than I made it!" she exclaimed.

FatherKraus sgreed. "Yes," he nodded.

"This is the way it is, when we do something for God."
